Frugal Living

Haircut

This afternoon my husband cut my hair - now don't think that I'm brave, for the first time that he cut it, I was terrified, but then I thought, "Oh well, the worst that can happen is that I need to get it cut professionally."

Where we live, a haircut can cost as much as $26.00, and for the amount of time that it takes to simply cut my hair across the back, it's really not worth it. I cut my own fringe, and my husband takes care of the back of it. Today was only the second time that he's cut my hair, and this time I wasn't scared at all.

I cut my daughter's, son's and husband's hair, and it was only through careful watching of the hairdresser cutting their hair that I learned how to cut their hair. Home haircuts save us about $100.00 a month, and I can put that money to better use than by giving it to the hairdressers. Call us frugal if you like, but money doesn't grow on trees, and God expects us to be good stewards of what we have.

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Matthew 24: 45, 46

Your hair is beautiful Jillian.

Good on you for letting your husband cut your hair. He has done a good job.

I get my husband to dye my hair as that costs $70 at the hair dressers, this way it is only costing $26. He doesn't mind at all.

It's hotting up again.... yay! Thank goodness for the swimming pool and a husband that maintains it nicely. Temperature in the pool last night was 35 degrees....lovely.

Have a great day,

Tania

Hi Tania,
Thank you. *blushes* I shall pass your message on to my husband - he'll be ecstatic that someone else thinks that he's done a good job. :)

Praise God for husbands who are willing to take on the extra work, such as maintaining swimming pools, cutting hair etc.

My daughter has been into the swimming pool today, but it's not really warm enough for me, yet. Our pool is nowhere near 35C.

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

Your hubby did a great job. I cut my hair and my daughter's hair. My hubby cuts his own hair. His hair cutting alone saves a huge amount of money since it pretty much needs to be done weekly.

Cool! I do my dh's and my sons hair. I am naughty apparently as I only go to the hairdresser once every term. I do my front bit (not really a fringe) whenever it drives me batty.

I used to do the girls hair when it was a similar style to yours, but now that they have layers and all that kind of girly stuff I dare not touch it. but they pay for it themselves so I'm not real fussed.

In the picture your hair looks red. Are you a redhead?

Hi Devildogwife,
Thank you - I shall pass the message along to my husband.

You cut your own hair - now that's very clever. I only ever tried once, and I really made a mess of it. :P

Haircuts are so expensive, aren't they, and there's really not much to show for it, is there?

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

Hi Susan,
Clever you, too!

Layers would be difficult to do, but mine needs to be cut straight so that it sits down, as it is sooo wavy.

You're the second person that has said that I look like a redhead. I guess that it does have reddish undertones but my hair is somewhere between dark blonde and a mousey brown.

It's great news that Miss A can play softball in the nationals - you must be so thrilled and so very proud of her. :D

Have a wonderful week,
Blessings,
Jillian

I cut everyone's hair, including my own. It's long enough that if I flip it over my face & use a comb I can actually cut it fairly straight. lol The girls think I'm mad & Ditz has offered but no way am I letting Ditz lose on my hair with a pair of shears! ☺

Hi Ganeida,
Wow- I'm impressed! Your hair is pretty long, too, isn't it?

I don't blame you for not letting Ditz loose with a pair of scissors - I wouldn't let my son or daughter near my hair with scissors! :P

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

He did a great job, Jillian!

I cut my husband's and sons' hair as well. HUGE moneysaver! My son, Drew, went through a phase where he only wanted to go to the barber. I finally asked him why, and he informed me because he gets a sucker there. Well, that I can provide, and it is much cheaper than going in!
