You, Me and the Kitchen Sink

Rhonda from Down to Earth is hosting my kitchen this week on her blog page - thank you, Rhonda.

Rhonda has some delightfully practical home hints on working in the home, vegetable and fruit gardening, slowing down and being mindful, cooking simple food, keeping chickens and worms, composting, green cleaning, stockpiling and preserving..

On her bog, you will find photos of our kitchen, which rather outdated is still perfectly functional, and what I love about it is that it always looks clean.

You will also find a photo of our leadlight cupboard, and that has travelled with us from Laura to Georgetown to Tumby Bay, and to our present location in the mid-north of South Australia.

Even when we update the kitchen, I think that we will keep the kitchen sink; I love the way that stainless steel always looks so clean and shiny. We are planning on updating the cupboard tops and repainting, but I really do like my kitchen - there is well and truly enough space, and it has an old country kitchen feel to it.

What about you? Are you happy with your kitchen, or are you planning on updating? What do you look for in a kitchen - granite cupboard tops or perhaps even timber, and what style of cupboards would you have?

That is a cool kitchen sink. You could get so much prep work done right there. The cupboard is fabulous as well.

I'm currently missing my stainless steel appliances from our last house, but I'm enjoying having more cupboard and counter space at this house. We also have a nice size pantry which is a huge plus.

Hi Devildogwife,
I love the kitchen in our home, as it is so practical and versatile.

Our leadlight cupboard is wonderful.

We also have a cellar where we can store more food than we'd ever eat.

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

I like it too, Jillian. I prefer the earthy, country feel. Although I live in a rented and ancient (1920s) queenslander, which needs a lot of work, my kitchen in is only about 5 years old. It is a fresh blue and cream which is nice and cool for here. I love this room, even though I might dream of wooden cupboards and a rustic look, as it is the hub of my home and the place where a lot of my love goes into action!
I know yours in the same. Thanks for the link, too.

Hi Ruby,
Thank you - nice to meet you, too. I wondered how long it would take for someone to notice. :)

Our home isn't an advertisement out of "Home Beautiful", but it is a place where God is the head, and is a place of love where our children can thrive and grow into the sort of children that God would be proud of.

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

Hi Jeanne,
Thank you for the compliment, but I'm not gorgeous - just me, the way that God made me, and I'm a simple folk, too. ♥

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

Hi Susan,
Thank you - yes, it is much nicer to be able to see the person you are "speaking" with, isn't it?

I have posted some photos to my Facebook profile, too.

Have a great week,
Blessings,
Jillian

I follow Rhonda's blog as well - I really enjoy her very practical way of life and her unashamed love for her home.

Those old sinks are wonderful aren't they. All that space for your dishes, and a great spot for cutting vegies. We need to update our kitchen - hopefully next year some time and I am hoping to be able to find a sink similar to what you have.
