Lack of Circulation

My apologies if I offend anyone, but my left foot has given me nothing but problems for the last seven years, and after countless visits to the doctor, we are going to another doctor this Friday, before I lose my foot.

It started out with one toe going black when I sit for any length of time, but now I see that it is my whole foot. The photo (below) was taken after sitting for just a few minutes, and it becomes worse the longer that I sit. The doctor that I have been going to has prescribed Trans Nitro 25 patches, but the only thing that they have done is to prevent chilblains.

I know, I know, my feet are not the most glamorous subject, but I just wondered if somebody has had experience with anything similar. I'm just about at the end of my rope, and my mother-in-law just died of gangrene last year. What a scary thought, and I'm nowhere near 90!

No experience I'm afraid but you are in my thoughts and prayers over this.Praying also that the Lord gives the doctor wisdom.

Have you had Doppler studies to check your circulation? (I was going to say 'as a first step', but my dh has pointed out that that would be a very bad foot gag. Sorry.)

Anyway, then at least you would know what is going on!!

Oh goodness! You really must not accept anything less than proper and thorough examination Jill! Don't let them fob you off.

Have you had ultra sounds on it to check the blood flow and veins?

I will be praying for you in this...I have vein trouble and it can be painful...the dr has told me that I face the possibility of losing my right foot/lower leg when I am older. yeah thanks doc! Something to look forward to. That's what started my spurt of getting fit and healthy- I do not want to lose my foot or be in pain all the time.

Regards, thoughts and prayers,

Hi Jeanne,
Yes, I have had a doppler scan, and it showed that everything was marginal.

I'm looking forward to seeing the doctor on Friday, as he is a Christian, and is a very good diagnostician accorcing to a friend of mine.
Blessings,
Jillian

Hi Sarah,
I guess that most people wouldn't know much about it unless they had been through it, or knew someone else who had been through it - worth a try, though.

No, unfortunately it's not that simple.

Hi Susan,
That's why we are changing doctors. I have been going to the same medical centre since we moved here, and they don't seem to have any idea of what is causing it. I am hoping that the new Christian doctor that we are going to see on Friday will be able to diagnose what it causing it. Apparently, he is an excellent diagnostician, but we shall see.

I haven’t had ultrasounds to check the blood flow and veins, yet. I am also having stomach trouble and swelling of the ankles and legs, so it will be interesting to try and isolate what the problem is.

Thank you for your prayers. I wonder how many other women have trouble with their legs and feet, and how many have been told that they are going to lose their foot. My asthma prevents me from active physical exercise, so I am not looking forward to the future. I’ll be praying for your foot, too – that you won’t lose it or be in pain all the time.
God bless you,
Jillian

Praying that the new doc will be able to give you a diagnosis that has a simple and affective treatment plan!

Oh please take care of yourself Jillian. That doesn't sound too healthy. I have dreaded varicose veins in my left leg and they cause my foot to burn, but not change colour.

Hope you had some success at the doctors.

Hi Tania,
I have to go for an ultrasound doppler scan of my veins and arteries, but meanwhile he has put me onto blood pressure medication to control the symptoms.

Blessings,
Jillian
